Site Visit and Inspection of Solid Waste Management Centre at Khawhai and Biate was done by the Deputy Commissioner, Khawzawl District on 25th July, 2026 with other officials, nodals and contractors.
KHAWZAWL Solid Waste Management Centre:
The overall physical progress of the project is approximately 48%. Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) slab casting for all slabs of the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Building has been completed successfully. Roof beam casting is currently in progress, and the remaining columns and structural members are being executed in accordance with the approved drawings and technical specifications. Despite the rainy weather, construction activities are continuing, and the remaining RCC structural works will be completed before roofing and finishing works.

KHAWHAI Solid Waste Segregation Centre :
As per the inspection, it was observed that Khawhai SWSC is still in construction phase - upto 65% of Civil Works completed. Target completion of all civil works is End of August, which will be met given favourable weather conditions.

BIATE Solid Waste Segregation Centre :
As per the inspection, it was observed that Biate SWSC has completed all the civil works, satisfactorily. Hence, a request was made to Director, UD&PA, Govt of Mizoram to accelerate the machinery installation so that commissioning of the Centre may be done at an early date.
